Obituary of Hector Fabio Escobar
SCOTIA -
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hector Fabio Escobar, who was born on April 22, 1952, and passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, with his loving children by his side.
Born in the vibrant city of Cali, Colombia, Hector embarked on a new chapter of his life in the early 1970s when he moved to the United States. He eventually found his home in Amsterdam, New York, in his twenties, where he built a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished moments.
Hector was a devoted father to his five children: Sandra Escobar, Andrea Melendez (Eddy), Jessica Gugliemelli (Zack), Bryant Escobar (Blanca), and Michael Escobar (Ashley). He instilled in them a deep appreciation for their Colombian heritage, often sharing his love for Spanish music and the joy of dancing.
An avid outdoorsman, Hector found great pleasure in the simple things in life, whether it was casting a line while fishing or enjoying a leisurely bicycle ride through his beloved community. Hector was a keen swimmer and instilled this passion in his children at an early age.
A man of dedication and perseverance, Hector was a familiar and respected figure at St. Mary's Hospital of Amsterdam, where he worked full-time for over two decades before retiring faithfully. He was known by his colleagues as a caring and respectful employee, always willing to lend a hand and treat everyone with kindness. Simultaneously, he demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by establishing his own business, Bryant’s Upholstery, Carpet and Floor Cleaning.
Above all else, Hector's greatest joy came from his family. He deeply loved his children and absolutely adored his ten grandchildren: Isaiah, Tatiana, Sofia, Josiah, Mia, Aniah, Alonzo, Ezalea, Bianca, and Ezra. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Hector's warmth, his love for life, his unwavering devotion to his family, and his considerate nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
