Obituary of Robert James Norton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” James Norton, who left us on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Born December 8, 1944, to the late Harold and Catherine (Fox) Norton.
Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan (Reilly) Norton and his furry best friend-Dexter.
Bob was a very compassionate kind and loving man who will be deeply missed by his brother John (Faith) Norton. Long time companion, Paula Peek. Ryann LaVigne, the mother of “Papas” most favorite buddy/grandson-Colton. Close friend John Peroni (Audrey), and other extended family members and friends.
Bob served with the US Army during the Vietnam War, after being honorably discharged he went on to pursue his passion of automobiles, where he worked for Bobar’s Towing Service for several years before purchasing his own garage-Fort Hunter Service with his business partner, Glen. After retiring/selling his garage, he went on to work odd jobs to keep active.
Bob was a member of the VFW Post 1895 and the Schenectady Veterans of World War II, where he enjoyed going to socialize and tip a beer or two with friends.
As per Bobs request, his ashes will be buried at the Saratoga National Cemetery and there will be no memorial or funeral services held. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
