Robert Alpy

Obituary of Robert James Alpy

MECHANICVILLE –

Robert James Alpy went home after a long illness on March 10, 2025, three days after his 72nd birthday.

He was born at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY on March 7, 1953, the fourth of seven children to Robert and Pearl (Helion) Alpy.  He was raised in Latham, NY, attended St. Ambrose School and Shaker High School.  Being the free spirit he was, he traveled a bit and settled in Georgia for a short period of time.  He then came back to Latham where he met and married the love of his life, Kimberly Corbett.  Kimmey was his world and together they spent 48 years together and had three sons, Bobby, Marc and David.  He went on to sell and install carpet and flooring in the Capital District.  He learned this craft along the way and became a mentor to many who worked for and with him.

Bobby (aka: Alp) was a gentle soul who loved family and friends.  Kim, Bobby, Marc and David were the love of his life, and he loved them totally and unconditionally.  After meeting Kim, he gained family and also great friends. He was always open to having a cup of coffee or a beer and just talking.  He also loved the freedom of the great outdoors and was the first one out of the house and the last one in.  Growing up his time was spent mostly outside climbing trees, building forts, playing baseball (his favorite), and in winter sleight riding and of course snowball fights.  Later in life camping became his activity of choice.  He had many longtime friends with whom he had many, many stories and memories.  He was an obsessive Yankee and Giants fan and rarely missed a game.

Bobby is survived by his wife Kim, his three sons, Robert (David), Marc (Trisha) and David.  His six grandchildren Lexi, Mia, Kylee, Marco, David and Aryana.  He is also survived by his brother Michael and his sisters Theresa (Robert) St John, Patricia Coker, Mary Fantauzzo and Janet Zepf.  His brothers-in-law Marc Corbett, Mick Corbett and sister-in-law Amy Petrone.  He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Pearl, his brother David and brothers-in-law Scott DiFabio and Peter Zepf.

The family would like to thank all his friends and neighbors at Midrise Apts. for their care and support during this difficult time.  A special thank you to Bobby’s longtime friends for spending time with him, especially on his birthday.  John Kirkland, Joe Zumbo, Jack Wands and Art Shappy, we want you to know you all held a very special place in his heart.  We’d also like to acknowledge Adam Dion, Alexandria, and Amanda, who have long been like children to him. A special thank you to The Community Hospice, especially Bobby's nurse Jess and to Pastor Mike Crandall for his ministry, prayers and words of comfort.

Respecting Bobby’s wishes, there will be no services. Cherish your memories of him and smile when you think of him.
