


Obituary of Leon Parker
Leon G. Parker, 76, of Selkirk, NY passed away on February 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and family members.
Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Bernard and Ida Mae (Losee) Parker on Dec 27, 1948.
He grew up in Glenmont. After graduating from Bethlehem Central High School, he served in the Navy for 4 years as an aircraft machinist mate. Leon (‘Fuse’) was employed by Owens Corning for 35 years. He was one of its first employees when it opened. After he retired, he would join his fellow co-workers for monthly breakfasts. Leon and Anna travelled throughout the US going to various landmarks and visiting friends and family. A lot of the adventures were done with their camper in tow. In his spare time, one would find him bowling and golfing with his family and friends. He loved watching various sports and he knew the players and the teams. He also was a history buff, providing different information. From the Spring until Fall, Leon and Anna would venture down to the Henry Hudson River Town Park enjoying picnics and the sites.
He loved his family and he enjoyed being with them all year long, especially at the Annual Parker and West Reunions.
Leon is survived by his wife Anna (Speigl). He was a father to Melissa (Scott), David (Christina), brother to Ken (Lorraine) Parker, Kathryn Stahl, and Karl (Debbie) Parker, and brother-in-law to Beth Parker and Janet Parker. He was also a brother-in-law to Anna’s sister Fay (Robert) Fagnant and her daughters who Leon loved like his own, Karen (Dennis) Dowen, Barbie Abounader and Kristy McKnight. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters Samatha and Sara and 4 great-grandchildren, Bradley, Iris, Sage and Eevee along with several Speigl family members and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
He was preceded by his brothers, Jim and Paul and sister, Dorothy, brothers-in-law, Glenn, Freddie, Albert, mother-in-law, Mildred, and father-in-law, Andrew.
A special thanks to Fay, Kathy, Dee, Marie, Chris, June, Audrey, and Hospice for all the care given to Leon.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Saratoga National Cemetery and Pine Grove Community Church, 59 Pine Road, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
