Obituary of Barbara Poetzsch
RAVENA -
Barbara Poetzsch, 69, of Ravena passed peacefully at home in the care of her children on February 12, 2025.
Born May 4, 1955 to the late Robert and Carolyn (Longley) Weed.
Barb spent her life in pursuit of medical knowledge through her studies, training and work first as an NP and then further as a Physician assistant for 40 years. Barb spent her professional career ranging from various patient care practices to teaching in the PA program at Albany Med to retiring from St. Peter’s in 2020, all the time converting colleagues to friends. She kept her personal time busy with gardening, quilting, hiking, traveling and most importantly spending time and vacations with her kids and grandchildren. Barb enjoyed crafting delicious cocktails and sipping on good wine with friends and family.
Barb is survived by her husband Michael Poetzsch; her daughters Jessica (Scott) Stachelhaus, Allison Poetzsch, and Kimberly (Michael) Busch; her siblings James Weed, Margaret Gardner, David Weed, and Richard Weed. Beloved Ahma to her grandchildren Hannah, Callum, Killian, and Jocelynn. Barb was part of the ‘traveling grandmas’ with her sister, and survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on February 22, 2025 in her home.
