



Obituary of Henry David Vink
COLONIE –
Henry David Vink, 78, of Colonie, passed away peacefully at home on January 30, 2025., after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.
David was born in Albany, NY, on August 3, 1946, to the late Henry James and Mary Violet (Sterling) Vink.
His early years was spent in the South End of Albany, but he was raised in Voorheesville.
David was a well-known car salesman in the Capital District. Some of the area dealerships he worked for include,
Orange Motors, Lia Toyota, NorthStar Chevy and his final employer, Mohawk Chevy in Malta.
David loved spending time with his family and friends, whether fishing with his son, Campfires in the backyard and trips up to Saratoga Race Course. David also had his love for NY Yankees, NY Giants, taking trips too Turning Stone, Rivers Casino or Atlantic City, and he loved scratching his Cashword Doublers.
Besides his parents, David is preceded in death by his sisters, Karon Vink., Linda McClintock., and Mary Tribley Williams.
David is survived by his loving wife, Colleen (Knowles) Vink. His children., Lauren Welton., Michael (Andrea) and Joshua Vink. His grandchildren., Joshua, Zachary and Tristan Welton., Maddix, Lily and Macklin Vink., Egan Vink-Stevenson, Bailey and Jasper Vink. His great-grandchildren., Parker, Nathan and the newest addition, Thatcher Welton. and his step-children., Melissa Johnsen and Shawn Craggs.
David is also survived by his sister., Sharon Vojnar, his sister in law., Kathleen Burger, his mother in law., Judith (Starks) Storey and his brother/sister in law., Earl (Mary Jean) Knowles. He leaves behind his niece, Lisa Vojnar, his nephew, Willy Vojnar., and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
David's family would like to Thank all of his friends for their love, compassion and support during this difficult time. The family also wants to thank Fr. Quinn from Blessed Sacrament for his prayers and Community Hospice for their support toward the end of his life.
Honoring his request, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life was held on October 12th, 2024., per David's request. He wanted to see his loved ones before his condition worsened.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor, to the American Cancer Society.
