Obituary of Lisa Lynn O'Neill
January 9, 1986 – January 10, 2025
WYNANTSKILL –
Lisa Lynn O’Neill, born January 9, 1986, passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering positivity, strength, and courage. Her heart and soul were her beloved daughters, Payton Emory O’Neill and Ellie Ana O’Neill. Throughout her journey, Lisa lived each day to its fullest, determined to create a lifetime of memories for her girls. Her guiding motto, “I don’t have time to be sick because I need to make memories for my girls,” was a testament to her indomitable spirit.
Lisa grew up in Schodack, NY, lovingly raised by her mother, Kathy Persons, and her grandmother, Janice Dorn. She shared a special bond with her big brother, Michael Gagliardi, and together they cherished their fishing trips, where Lisa always seemed to catch the first and biggest fish.
A 2004 graduate of Maple Hill, Lisa excelled in both academics and athletics, playing on the volleyball team and enjoying the camaraderie of her girl squad—Kristy Koch, Shannon Campbell, Kelly Ippolito, and Nicole Riccardi. Following high school, she pursued her passion for healthcare by attending the Hudson Valley Community College Radiologic Program. While studying, she worked at the Price Chopper Floral department in East Greenbush, earning the affectionate nickname "Flower Girl" for her remarkable talent in crafting stunning floral arrangements.
It was during her college years that Lisa met the love of her life, Daniel O’Neill, 18 years ago. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful marriage, marked by an unforgettable engagement at the Grand Canyon. This past year, they joyfully celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
Lisa dedicated 14 years to her career as an X-Ray technician at Wynantskill Family Medicine, where she was deeply appreciated by her patients for her compassionate care. Additionally, she worked part-time as a waitress at Mercato’s, where her warmth and charm drew customers who became lifelong friends.
Beyond her professional life, Lisa was a passionate entrepreneur, running a successful online retail business for over a decade. She and Daniel delighted in discovering unique vintage treasures at garage sales and thrift shops, which became cherished finds for her store. One of her greatest joys was watching her husband bring in her latest "find of the day."
Lisa was a proud member of the Schodack Fire Department Auxiliary, always eager to support her community. Her vibrant spirit and selflessness were evident in every aspect of her life.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Daniel; her adored daughters, Payton (6 years old) and Ellie (4 years old); her mother, Kathy (Dave) Persons; her brother, Michael (Beth) Gagliardi; her aunt, Sharon Leighton (Duncan Hay); her uncles, Robert Gagliardi (Cindy), Nick Dorn (Jennifer Salerno); her sister-in-laws, Jessica Smith (Chris Passero) and Brianna Devens; her brother-in-laws, David O'Neill and Nicholas Smith (Grace); her parents-in-law, Daniel (Jennifer) O'Neill and Lisa Devens; her nieces and nephews, Memphis Gagliardi, Corbin Gagliardi, Gavin Passero, Ashton Passero, and Ollie Taylor; her Mercato's squad, and Wynantskill Family Medicine crew. Lisa was predeceased by her godson, Ryan Gagliardi. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of Lisa's life will be held at The Venue Cohoes, 65 Congress Street, Cohoes, NY, 12047, on January 19, 2025, from 12 - 4 pm, where all who knew her are invited to share in the memories of a life beautifully lived. Please dress casually and bring your children for Payton and Ellie to play with.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lisa's honor to St. Jude the Apostle School in Wynantskill, New York, an institution that provided tremendous support during her time of need. Additionally, friends and family are encouraged to bring letters, stories, pictures, keepsakes, or any cherished memories for Payton and Ellie, ensuring that Lisa's legacy and love continue to guide them.
Lisa’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and community. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
