Obituary of Charles A. Mossey, Jr.

Mr. Charles A. (Chuck) Mossey, Jr., 70, of Halfmoon, formerly of Cohoes, passed away at Columbia New York – Presbyterian Hospital in New York City on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, surrounded by his family.
 
Born on April 30, 1954 in Troy, New York, he was the son of the late Charles A. Mossey, Sr. and  (Theresa) Marie Shields Mossey. Charles was raised in Troy and was a 1972 graduate of Troy High School. He has since lived in Cohoes and lastly Halfmoon. Charles also received further education as a Watervliet Arsenal Apprentice Graduate (Class of 1979) and also Hudson Valley Community College in 2000, with an Associates of Applied Science Degree.
 
 Mr. Mossey was employed as a Machinist Apprentice, Machinist, Machine Tool Work Inspector, Toolmaker for the Watervliet Arsenal from 1979 – 1997  and also Benét Laboratories at Watervliet Arsenal from 1997 – 2009, Materials Science Branch, Mechanical Engineering Technician where he tested materials, developed processes and procedures, held patents and authored technical articles. Chuck retired in 2009 and enjoyed spending time in Gull Bay on Lake George, traveling with his family and Bulldog Mokey, and working on a variety of projects.
 
Affectionately known as “MacGyver” as he could fix anything and was always willing to help anyone.  Chuck enjoyed car restoration, boat building, woodworking, construction projects, masonry and riding his ATVs, jet skis, motorcycles and dirt bikes.
 
Devoted husband of Lori A. (Thompson) since October 12, 1991. Their union began in Rotterdam, NY. Loving father of Erin M. Mossey and Charles R. Mossey. Dearest brother and brother in law to Donna M. Forbes (Timothy) and Robin Foy. Cherished uncle of Thomas C. Fiffe (Jessica), Tammy Bonesteel (Steve) and Joseph Foy (Christy).  Multiple great nieces and nephews also survive.
 
Memorial Services for Charles A. Mossey, Jr. were conducted and held privately in the Riverview Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in his memory.
