Obituary of Harry O. Page, Jr.
CLIFTON PARK –
Harry “Joe” Page, Jr., 88, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at Brookdale Niskayuna. His wife of 62 years, Sheila, was by his side.
He was born on August 14, 1936, in Wolfeboro, NH, and raised in Albany, NY. Joe was very active in scouting, reaching the rank of Eagle Scout at age 16. He attended Milne High School, where he excelled in academics and sports. Most importantly, he met Sheila there and made friendships they maintained throughout their lives. Joe received his BA from Amherst College and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Albany. He served in the Army for several years.
Joe and Sheila were married in 1962. Joe started working as a teacher for North Colonie Schools in 1960. He taught History at Shaker Junior High School until becoming an administrator there. Joe went on to become a beloved principal at multiple elementary schools, including Blue Creek, Latham Ridge, and Loudonville. He took pride in knowing the names of every child in the school by the end of the first week and enjoyed delivering musical birthday greetings to each on their special day. Joe retired in 1994 and was able to spend more time out on the waters and islands of Lake George, his favorite place. Happiest with a book, warm sun, and his bride, Joe and Sheila also enjoyed winters in Englewood, Florida, and regular trips to Myrtle Beach, NC and St. John in the Virgin Islands. An avid reader, Joe imbued his children with a love of literature and learning. He was a pragmatist with the heart of a poet, and his dry sense of humor and storytelling skills were appreciated by all his friends and family.
Joe will be deeply missed by his wife Sheila, son Christopher (Wendy), daughter Kimberly (Drew), four grandchildren (Christopher, Colton, Justin, and Page), and brother Robert.
Honoring his request, there will be no formal service. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to: Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Page Family, online at: SimpleChoicesCremationc.om
