Obituary of Joseph R. Myers, Sr.

WEST STEPHENTOWN –

Mr. Joseph R. Myers, Sr., 68, of West Stephentown, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away in the comfort of his own at his home on December 2, 2024.

Joseph was born on April 29, 1956 in Shirley, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Harry Joseph Myers and Ursula (Marquardt) Myers. Joseph was raised in Plattsburgh, where he received his education and graduated from Plattsburgh High School. As a young man he worked at Bouyea Bakery in Plattsburgh NY.

Joseph moved to the Capital District area where and was employed by Verizon. After 25 years of dedicated service with Verizon, Mr. Myers retired from his career as a FiOS Optic Technician. He was also an antique dealer, traveling and participating in flea markets, and later on having sales of his own.

Joseph loved the nature and being outside, his heart was in the Adirondacks, where he found peace (Ice fishing and fly fishing was a favorite.) He also enjoyed listening to music, attending live public concerts with family and friends over the years and just as equally he enjoyed the peace, quiet and comfort of his home.

Warmly remembered as a loving and caring father, and friend to many. Joseph would stop what he was doing to lend a hand if someone was in need of help. Always tinkering on something that needed to be fixed (or as just a personal hobby to stay busy) Joseph will be remembered by many as a hardworking man who was loved by many and will forever be missed by the people he has met over the years. His legacy still lives on through family.

Joseph’s memory is cherished by two surviving sons, Kyle Joseph Myers (39) and Joseph Ross Myers Jr (33). As well as his surviving siblings (and their spouses); Nancy Myers (Laurence Pardi), Carol Myers, Thomas Myers, Elise Biernacki (Robert Biernacki) and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his son, Travis John Myers (41), on September 20, 2022.

The Myers Family wishes to thank, with heartfelt gratitude, all of those that have helped out during our time of loss and provided our family support.

Cremation Arrangements are entrusted to: Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours, Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 2pm until 4 pm at Simple Choices, Inc. A Service of Remembrance will conclude the calling hours beginning at 4 o’clock in the funeral home that afternoon.
