Obituary of Joseph G. De Mase
TROY –
Mr. Joseph G. De Mase, 92, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024 in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on September 5, 1932 in Troy, New York. Son of the late Salvatore and Jeanette (Piazza) De Mase. Joseph received his education from Catholic Central High School (class of 1949).
A United States Army Veteran, Mr. De Mase served during the Korean War (from 1952-1954) and received an honorable discharge for his service. Other notable achievements on his military record include: The Combat Infantry Badge, The Korean War Service Medal with One Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal, One Overseas Bar and the ROK Presidential Unit Emblem.
For many years Joe was employed by the Howard Johnson Company. He loved working and worked at many different jobs after his normal retirement age. He ended his career in August 2024 at the Brunswick Market 32 Price Chopper where he enjoyed chatting with his meat department customers.
Survivors include his children: Joseph J. De Mase; Mary C. De Mase, Barbara L. De Mase; Peter J. De Mase and John A. De Mase. He is also survived by one sister, Marianne (De Mase) Carcasole.
The De Mase Family wishes to thank the Community Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.
Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to: Simple Choices, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY 12180 with assistance in arranging burial in the Arlington National Cemetery (at a later date). There will be no calling hours or funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Joseph G. De Mase may be directed to either: The Community Hospice Foundation or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
