Obituary of Jolene Marie VanVranken
BRUNSWICK –
It is with great sadness that the family of Jolene Marie (Thompson) VanVranken announces her passing on October 3, 2024.
Daughter of the late Paul and Lenita (Hoag) Thompson, she was born on February 2, 1975 (Groundhog’s Day) in Troy, New York.
Jolene was raised in Pittstown, NY and graduated from Tamarac High School and the Capital Region BOCES LPN program.
She married the love of her life, the late Edward George VanVranken, Jr., on March 18, 1999, and together they created and raised a beautiful family in Brunswick, NY.
Jolene was a talented writer of poetry sharing her work in cards and little notes left to express her love for family.
Survivors include her two perfect children: Emilee VanVranken (and her fiancé Philip Laiacona) and Tyler VanVranken. Also mourning her passing are surviving siblings and their spouses; her sister Annette and brother in law (Scott) Pelletier, her sister Meredith Thompson and her partner Timothy Simmons. She was the much loved aunt to her two nephews Scott (Danielle) Pelletier and Ryan Pelletier.
In addition to her parents, Jolene was recently predeceased by husband Edward George VanVranken, Jr. on April 14, 2024. She was also predeceased by her grandparents: William and Rose Hoag, Theodore and Mable Thompson, all of Pittstown, NY.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date by the immediate family.
Memorial Contributions in Jolene’s memory may be directed to Shriners Children’s New England Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she received many years of childhood orthopedic care in her youth.
