Obituary of Joseph Michael Hansen

CLIFTON PARK –
Joseph “Joe” Michael Hansen, 72, died Monday, October 7, 2024, in Albany, New York with his beloved family by his side and in his hearts.

Joe was born in Middletown, New York on June 7, 1952, to Jeanne D. Hansen and Joseph H. Hansen. He graduated from Goshen Central High School in 1970, where he met the love of his life, Veann Booth Hansen, his wife of 52 years. Veann and Joe married on April 1, 1972. The couple was blessed with two beautiful and loving daughters, Julie and Karen.

The family resided in Goshen, Orange County, New York. Joe made a successful career at Orange and Rockland Utilities for 41 hardworking years. He enjoyed spending time with family and being a family man (family first always), supporting his grandkids’ athletic endeavors by being a consistent presence on the athletic sidelines, loving his grand-puppies, and loving all for who they are. Joe retired in 2012 and shortly thereafter, he and his wife, Veann moved to Clifton Park, New York to be near their daughters and their families.

Joe is survived by his remarkable wife, Veann; his wonderful daughters, Julie LaGoy (Scott) and Karen Hansen (Heather); his beloved grandchildren Cade, Callie, Chase, Camden, and Carter (his 5C’s); his loving brother, David; several nieces and nephews and many other incredible family and friends he has admired over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and Joseph, and sister, Carol.

Joe is remembered and honored as a true family man, a diligent master of all trades, a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather, who always shared “it is what it is” and truly believed in the power of family, kindness, and spreading joy to all those that surrounded him.

As per Joe’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.

His family thanks the dedicated and sincere hospice nurses and employees of St. Peter’s Hospital/Hospice Inn and those that have loved and supported Joe all throughout his life.
