Obituary of Gordon Jay Streeter

SCHENECTADY -

Gordon Jay Streeter, 74, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2024, with his family by his side.

Born on October 9, 1949, in Niskayuna, NY, Gordon was the son of the late Elmer and Pauline Streeter. Raised in Schenectady, he was a self-taught “Master Tinkerer” with a knack for fixing just about anything. A man of many hats, he ran his own business, drove semi-trucks, and most recently worked for Sysco, where he navigated highways with the same skill he used to dodge chores at home.

Gordon was an artist at heart, with an endless supply of wisecracks and jokes. Whether it was making people laugh or sharing a clever retort, he always had a one-liner ready. A fiercely private person, Gordon found his peace in the Adirondacks at Hague, NY, or near the ocean—anywhere he could enjoy nature and maybe sneak in a few fish tales.

His love for family was unparalleled, and that always included the four-legged members of the household. Gordon was a natural caregiver, doing everything he could for those he loved, be it humans, dogs, or cats. If you needed help, he’d be there with tools in one hand and a joke in the other.

Gordon is survived by the love of his life, Terry Stewart Hudson, and their beloved Berne doodle, Lucy. He also leaves behind his son, Nikoli Streeter, daughter-in-law Samantha Streeter, and granddaughter Avery Wetzel, as well as his brother Elmer Streeter and sister-in-law Deborah Streeter, along with his sister-in-law Susan Streeter. He was also survived by several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Streeter.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Gordon’s best friend and next-door neighbor, John K., for always being there to lend a hand or share a laugh.

In keeping with Gordon’s wishes, a small, private gathering will be held to spread his ashes in Hague, NY—a place he loved as much as his jokes.
