Good Neighbor Bill was how we thought of him. Bill Edwards moved across the road from us on Copake Lake. We could see him outside his house, fixing things, clearing the land, adding stones to our bumpy road. He was kind and generous to a fault. We always looked forward to an opportunity to chat with him. We also got to know his daughter Diane Johnson and her husband Mark, who arrived months ago to take care of Bill. They drove to the Albany veterans rehab, many times a week. Almost till the very end, Bill was lucid, articulate, and charming the nurses and other residents. Diane and Mark also have worked tirelessly, gathering his belongings, organizing his voluminous papers, and preparing the house. Good Neighbor Bill, you'll be missed.

Beautiful obituary! I enjoyed reading about Bill’s education, career and all the places he lived. I met Bill and Kitty when they retired and moved in across the road from me on Copake Lake. Bill was so talented, but also extremely modest about his achievements. He also was a very caring, wonderfully helpful neighbor. I will miss seeing Bill outside working away on his property (and mine!) and our many visits and conversations. Rest in Peace Bill.
