I met Barbara about 50 years ago when she started working at Triangle Steel. We were colleagues for twelve years until I took another job and left Ithaca. She became a friend to Carol and Carol’s mom as well. We stayed in touch and I visited her every time that I came to Ithaca to see my dad. We shared many ups and downs over the years. She was a great help and comfort to me when I was in Ithaca dealing with my dad’s illness. We last visited together in 2017 and we will always remember that time. She never stopped trying to get us to return to Ithaca, which she regarded as a very special place.
Condolences from us to all of her family; she was truly special.

I knew Barbara primarily through her alumnae support of Pi Beta Phi. She was a helpful resource on many occasions and we will miss her as a sister. I also had the good fortune of seeing her at work in the Sciencenter. She was a wonder!
My deepest sympathies to the family.

Martha and entire extended Curit Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. Though, I don't remember Barbara well, as I was very young when she was on the island, I will always cherish our family connection on Chebeague.
Thinking of you all

I only met Barbie for a brief time when I was a flower girl when she married my cousin, Jimmy. My mother, Martha Smock, continued to correspond with Barbie for years until mother's passing in 1984.

My sweet Jama….I feel so blessed I got to spend these last few weeks home with you. It’s time I will cherish for my whole life. I’ll never forget you singing me lullabies to sleep (even after I long aged out of the need) or calling me Sansimyra when I was naughty. You made the goofiest faces and had the absolute brightest eyes. Your light will burn on in me and I will share you with everyone, especially my daughter Eden. Thank you for loving me even when I didn’t deserve it. I miss you already.
