Obituary of Robert Lee Clevenger, Sr.

RAINELLE, W.V –

Robert “Bob” L. Clevenger, Sr., age 77, of Rainelle, West Virginia, passed away on July 15, 2024 surrounded by family.

Bob was born on January 21, 1947 in Spring Creek as the oldest of seven children.

Bob loved the natural beauty and quiet of West Virginia. After thirty years of welding at CSX Railroad in Selkirk, he returned home to care for his mother for a decade. He was happy to continue hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his brothers, sons, and nephews, especially at the family hunting cabin over Thanksgiving. He also enjoyed traveling everywhere from Las Vegas to Disney World with his kids.

Upon returning home, Bob was surprised and delighted to find his furever companion and best friend of fifteen years in an abandoned Boston Terrier whom he named Mugsy. After meeting, Bob and Mugsy rarely spent a day apart.

He is survived by two sons Robert and Brad (Beth), granddaughter Summer; six siblings Ann, Bud (Ramona), Ada (Rick), Darrell, and Donald (Phyllis) and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the nurses at St. Mary’s Cancer Treatment Center for the warmth and care they showed our dad.

Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
