Obituary of John M. Moquin
ALBANY –
It is with great sadness that the family of John M. Moquin of Albany, NY announces his passing on May 1, 2024, at St. Peter’s Hospital, after a brief illness. He was 76 years old.
John was born in Burlington, VT in 1947, the first of four children of Alphonse and Anna Moquin.
John wore many hats in his life, from hairdresser to store owner, photographer, artist, beloved father, brother, and son. He made friends wherever he went, and loved to tell stories of his adventures. John was a naturally gifted artist in many different mediums. As an adult, he attended Russell Sage College to further expand his artistic talents, graduating with honors. John spent many years exploring, photographing, and documenting wildlife on Schodack Island, his favorite place to retreat from the world. His work culminated in an educational coloring book about the wildlife there, which he both wrote and illustrated. Later in life, John decided to teach himself to play guitar as well.
John is survived by his brother David (Maria), his sisters Nanci and Teresa (Bill), his daughters Sonya Allen and ShaShauna Raposa, and his son Josh Raposa. He also leaves his grandchildren, nieces, and nephew.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. The family will have a private celebration of his life.
If you wish to honor John, go out in nature and take some photos, be a good steward of the great outdoors, and hug your loved ones whenever you can.
