I just now learned of David's passing which has hit me quite hard. David and I got to know each other when we collaborated on a significant case concerning the State's switching to EBT from the old food stamp coupon system. I was in private practice retained by the winning bidder and David was at DSS. We, along with the Attorney General's Office, defended DSS from the lawsuit commenced by the losing bidders. There are many interesting stories from that litigation, but what it was of my most enduring memories is the passion ad dedication that David brought to the case. This included that one evening in the summer David somehow tracked me down on the baseball field while I was coaching my daughter's Little League team to discuss a factual complexity to be sure I understood all the nuances of the case. I believe this would have been in the late 1990s, and it began a long friendship that, unfortunately, drifted away over the recent years. I truly enjoyed David and his unique style and intelligence. I send you my belated but deep condolences on your loss.
