Obituary of Carol Jean Sitts
Carol Jean Sitts, a lifelong area resident, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, November 13, 2014. She died at home, peacefully, under hospice care with her family at her side.
Carol was born in Central Bridge NY on December 23 1930. She grew up during the depression, but as she often said, she and her sister Katherine, never knew there was a depression; they lived on a farm, and there was always food on the table. She graduated from Schoharie High School among the top in her class. She worked in the secretarial pool at GE, and married Richard Sitts. They lived their first years in Rotterdam NY and attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Rotterdam.
A few years later, Carol and Dick moved to Glenville where they raised their family and Carol was employed as an assistant auditor at Schenectady Trust Co.
They later moved, for the last time, to the Town of Ballston, in part to be closer to SPAC, and their beloved Philadelphia Orchestra. Every concert you could find them in their favorite spot, under one of the ramps, rain or shine. Carol worked at Maplewood Manor as a Medical Records Technician until she retired.
She and her husband loved to travel and go to NYC to watch Broadway shows, especially anything Andrew Lloyd Webber. She loved baseball, and treasured the days she spent watching her grandson's play.
She was preceded in death eight months ago by her husband Richard after 61 years of marriage.
She is survived by four children: Christine Spittal (Robert), Dale Sitts, Laurel Gugliuza (Gary), and Maureen Sitts(Scott): her grandchildren Nicholas Spittal, Justin Spittal, , Mellissa Fitzpatrick, Breanna Cuttle, Anna Gugliuzza, Sarah Gugliuzza, .Johnna Simmons, and Kelsey Simmons.
Donations in her name to the Schenectady City Mission would be appreciated.
