Oh my. I wish I knew earlier and could have shared a few thoughts sooner. After teaching in Schenectady for over 30 years I had a unique perspective on what makes a successful administrator and educator. Matthew was one of the best at both. He shined as a teacher and his kids shined because of it. He was the most supportive boss I ever had. He championed my professional pursuits, he was flexible when I was fickle, he urged me to teach to my strengths. I’m so sorry, Nora. As you know, your Dad was the real deal. His legacy lingers in the hearts and minds of the countless students and teachers with whom he shared his journey.

So much more than a great teacher and administrator. Matt was one of the finest individuals that was a privilege to know and work with.

Mark worked for my dad at Boulevard Fruit Garden and always had a funny story to tell me about him. He will be missed. May his memory be eternal.

I knew Matt in high school he was always a friend to me and was gracious and kind and seeing what he has done with his life of giving , it is no surprise the accolades he has won. I am proud to have known him only briefly when we were both young. He will be missed by many. my deepest sympathies to his loving family. Mark J Van Husen
