Obituary of Thomas R. Schmidtmann

AMSTERDAM - Thomas R Schmidtmann, 61, of Amsterdam New York, passed away early in the morning on Monday June 26, 2023. Thomas was born and grew up in Amsterdam with his parents Jeanne and Donald Schmidtmann, and his brothers: Bubba (Donald), Chris, David, Mikey, Timmy (his twin), Jeff and Billy. He served in the United States Army, and then became a truck driver. Thomas was a son, husband, daddy, pipa, uncle, brother and brother in-law. He enjoyed spending time camping with his wife Marcia and would use any excuse he could find to have as many of their daughters and grandchildren around them as often as possible. He also couldn't wait to find projects to work on with his brother Mikey and his brother in law Mark or plan his next vacation with his brother in law Rob. He was also an ordained minister and was working to obtain his barber license. All the folks at his daughter Kayla's shop knew him as "Ray." He loved talking to all of them. He loved telling people about his daughters. How proud he was to be in the barber shop with Kayla. He would talk about Penny who works for the department of corrections and who was just recently promoted to captain and still makes time to call him often. How he loved going to the races with Coleen and having Sunday morning breakfast with Kristy who used way too much butter when she made him omelets. How much he loves when Beanie brings the girls. Spending time with his brother Mike and his wife Maureen. He looked forward to their valentine's day double date with Jim and Cathy and also loved their family dearly. Thomas was predeceased by his mother and father Jeanne and Donald, and his brothers Bubba, Chris, David, and Jeff and is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Marcia, his daughters and their children Penny, James and Thomas. Coleen, Tanner and Kaleb. Kristy, Holden and Teegan. Kathleen. Kayla, Eli and Eleanor. Rebecca (Bean), Sophie and Mylamae. His brothers: Mikey, Timmy and Billy, and his brothers-in-law Mark and Rob as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to Melissa who goes above and beyond to help with any and everything no matter what. Daddy, you are so loved and we miss you like crazy.
