Obituary of Adrienne Desjardins
ALBANY, NY –
Adrienne Desjardins, 102, of Bedford, MA and Albany, NY, and formerly of Springfield, VT, entered into rest on June 23, 2023, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY.
The daughter of the late Georges and Clarisse (Forget) Gascon, Adrienne was born on September 8, 1920, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She attended a Catholic School in Canada.
Adrienne was raised in Montreal and Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada until 1942 when she married her husband Rene Desjardins and resided in Springfield, VT until 2004. For nineteen years her residence was shared by her two daughters between Bedford, MA (Linda) and Albany, NY (Sylvia). She was a dedicated homemaker for her family. Adrienne was part of a Knitting Club which made articles for donations to charities. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, sewing, fishing, and cooking for her family. Adrienne was renowned for handing out origami folded dollar bill shirts to people that were kind to her. She became a US citizen in May of 1958.
Loving wife of the late Rene "Jack" Desjardins, whom she married on February 14, 1942, at Saint-Louis-de-France Church, Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada.
Beloved mother of Sylvia Desjardins and Linda Young (Allan).
Cherished grandmother of Stephen Strzesiewski, Nicole Bickford (Mark), Eric Young (Michelle), and great grandmother of Kyle Johnston, Jakub Bickford, Jillian Bickford, Scott Young, Matthew Young, Adam Young and Paige Young.
She was the dear sister of Jean Gascon and Claude Gascon, and adored aunt to several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Adrienne was predeceased by one sister, Germaine (Maurice) Rumrill, four of her brothers: Gerard (Luce), Philippe (Lillian), Rene (Trudy), Guy (Irene), as well as two sisters-in-law: Therese Gascon and Norma Gascon, her grandson Scott Young and her granddaughter Lauren Strzesiewski.
Adrienne’s family wishes to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at St. Peter's Hospital for taking such good care of our mom. Everyone's compassion was greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o’clock on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Holy Family Parish Church, 10 Pleasant St, Springfield, VT 05156. Interment will immediately follow the Mass in Oakland Cemetery, Springfield, VT.
