Obituary of Sarah Catherine Empie

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Sarah Catherine Empie, born on December 12, 1989, in Troy, New York was the beloved daughter of Steven and Patricia Empie of Pittstown, New York. Sarah departed her earthly life on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the age of 33. Sarah graduated from Averill Park High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. From an early age Sarah loved playing and being outdoors. Growing up on the Empie Family farm instilled in her a great love of nature and animals. As she grew older, she relished hiking with her dad on local trails and in the Adirondacks. The yearly family vacations to Cape Cod brought her to one of her favorite places, the ocean, where she enjoyed swimming and skimboarding with her cousins. Winters offered her the opportunities to ski and snowboard. She also enjoyed Irish dancing, drawing, running, playing basketball, biking, concerts, yoga, horseback riding, playing the flute, reading, and listening to many genres of music. Sarah’s spirit was filled with the joy of life, the beauty of nature and care and compassion for others. She so often put others before herself. Moving to Saratoga Springs was life affirming for Sarah. She found much satisfaction in her work as a restaurant server since she could present delicious meals and meet people. In addition to her loving parents, Sarah is survived by her aunts and uncles: Maureen Delaney (Mark), Irene Graven (Michael), John Kenny (Elaine), Kathleen Higley (David), Michaelene Kelly (Timothy), Cheryl Empie (Hal), Douglass Empie (Kimberly) and Jack Empie.
