Obituary of Emma E. Papa

DELMAR – Emma E. Papa, 80, of Delmar, died peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born in Albany on March 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Emily (Leggett) Miller. As a young child, she moved to Delmar and was a 1961 graduate of Bethlehem Central High School. Emma was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Joseph A, Papa. She is survived by her beloved children; daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law, David Reusswig of Mechanicsburg, PA; sons, Mark Papa, and Matthew Papa of Albany; and the joys of her life, granddaughters, Emily Reusswig of NYC and Sophie Reusswig of Mechanicsburg, PA. As a child, Emma enjoyed swimming and riding her ponies at the family camp on Warner’s Lake. As a teenager and young woman, she spent many summers in Maine with her parents and dear friends. Prior to marriage, she worked as an orthodontic assistant. After raising her children, she returned to work as a medical secretary, retiring in 2016. In addition to being a devoted and supportive wife and mother, Emma loved reading, gardening, vacationing in Lake Placid, the NY Yankees, and doting on her granddaughters.
