Obituary of Dain Arden Wells

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Dain Arden Wells, 76, passed away peacefully at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born on November 12, 1946 in Utica, NY, Dain was the son of the late Nathan Wells and Janet (Barnard) Wells. He attended Remsen Central School and had many fond memories of growing up at his family home on Prospect Street in Remsen. Over the years, Dain worked for a number of local businesses, including the Williams Oil Company, Brink’s Armored Car Service, and the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute. He particularly enjoyed driving the fuel delivery truck and would frequently talk about the many years he spent doing that. Dain was also a proud member of the Remsen Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Dain married the love of his life, Patricia Broadbent Wells, on December 30, 1972, and they recently celebrated their 50-year anniversary. Dain is survived by his dedicated wife, Pat, son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Leanne Wells, and their children, Brodie (Megan), Gage (Lucy), Jordyn, Andrew, and Leah. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Spicer, Barrett (Gail) Wells, and Ellen (George) Yutzler, as well as many extended family members and friends. Dain will be remembered by those close to him for his gentle nature, his endless love for his family, and his wonderful sense of humor. Even when Alzheimer’s disease stole his memories, he would always light up and smile from ear to ear when loved ones came to visit, and he was still very quick to throw out a witty one-liner and to laugh at his own jokes. The Wells family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home for their extraordinary compassion and care toward Dain and his family members. Cremation has taken place through the care of Simple Choices, Inc. and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
