Obituary of Philip D. Mickle

Philip D. Mickle Jr. Philip D. Mickle Jr. 60 Passed away on Saturday September 15, 2012 at his home in Chatham, NY. Born September 21, 1951 in Pittsfield Mass. He was the son of the late Mary Joe and Philip D. Mickle Sr. of Chatham. In his early years he was a member of St. James Catholic Church of Chatham and was an altar boy. Phil was an honored Boy Scout and went on to Achieve the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of the class of '69 at Chatham Central High School and attended Columbia Greene Community College. He was a life member of the Columbia County Agricultural Society where he also worked for many years. A member of the Alan Devoe Bird Club, Chatham Fire Department, and a proud an active member of the Ghent Band. His teaching of birds, plants, trees, and the Hudson River will be sorely missed. He had a passion for woodworking, camping, birding, the Giants, and many hours with friends and family on his boat on the Hudson River. He leaves behind his wife of four years Darlene Decker Mickle, his step children Ike, Nathan, Martin Harvey all of Chatham. One Brother; William (Michele) Mickle of Chatham. Two Sisters Patricia (Jim) Kipp of West Sand Lake, Pamela (Smitty) Mickle, Smith of Hudson. Three step Grandchildren and Four Nephews: David, Robert, Michael Mickle and Jason Shatney. He also leaves behind his many friends who stuck by him through his illness. He is predeceased by his dog Casey Marie. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
