Helping you make Simple Choices during a difficult time.
Roy F. Bordeau
Licensed Funeral Director, Owner/Manager & Founder of Simple Choices Cremation.
Roy was born and raised in Schenectady, NY. At a young age Roy developed an interest in the funeral business and decided he wanted to become a Funeral Director.
In 1974, Roy graduated with honors from the Mortuary Science Program at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Roy served his state required residency training at the prestigious Marshall W. Tebbutt's Sons in Albany, NY.
Roy received his funeral directing license in 1975 and has served families like yours for over 40 years.
In 1980, Roy began a “Professional Trade” business, supplying professional services such as embalming and cosmetology services to Capital District funeral homes. His reputation has earned him the distinction of one of the most respected embalmers. Even though Roy was very successful with his embalming service he always desired to operate his own funeral home. For years he visited funeral homes for sale near and far, but then a new vision emerged with the observation of cremation rising steadily. Roy envisioned a service to the families requesting cremation as means of final disposition, specifically a "simple" cremation. Because of this, Simple Choices, Inc. was established. Simple Choices would be the long sought-out service families were seeking (affordable cremation as an alternative to high-cost funerals) as well as high cost cremation offered by traditional funeral homes.
Roy has always considered it the greatest privilege to assist families in their time of loss and grief. He has always considered funeral directing a vocation rather than just an occupation.
As a hobby, Roy is also a church organist, something he has done since he was 14. In fact, Roy met his wife, Anne Marie, also a church organist when their two churches merged in 1975. Together the couple have a daughter, Andrea Marie. Despite the demands of operating the cremation service Roy still assists a few Capital Region churches that call upon him as an organist for funeral masses.
