Obituary of Nancy Cunniff Plowinske

Nancy "Nanny Pat" Patricia Cunniff-Plowinske, 52, of Nassau, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 after a long battle with lung cancer. Born in Glens Falls on January 7, 1959, Nancy was the youngest daughter of the late Walter Sr. and Edna Edinger Cunniff. Nancy was raised in Indian Lake and graduated from Indian Lake High School. She later attended Syracuse University where she studied photography, printmaking, drawing, and sculpture. Nancy pursued her many interests while living in New York her entire life. Nancy spent several years working for the state as a computer operator. She also spent time working as a waitress and chef for various area restaurants, including Blessings Tavern. Nancy was a volunteer EMT for Colonie EMS as well as a troop leader for the Hudson Valley Girl Scout Council. Nancy expressed her love for animals while working as a manager at Colonie Pets, and by rescuing, adopting, and raising animals in need throughout her life. Nancy also worked for Secrephone, Albany Votec, and most recently as a medical secretary at OB/GYN Health Center Associates where she loved to make her coworkers smile. Nancy is survived by her husband, Stephen F.; step son, Daniel S.; son, Stephen R.; daughter, Crystal A.; and grandson, Daniel S. Plowinske Jr. Nancy is also survived by her brothers Walt Jr. (Claudia), George (Sue), Joe (Karen), Andy (Ellen), and Kenny (Deb) Cunniff; her sister Lucy (Dave) Jude; a special companion Dan Harmon; as well as several aunts and uncles; and nieces and nephews. Finally, Nancy is survived by the many human and animal friends whose hearts she has touched over the course of her lifetime. Memorial Services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 2635 Balltown Road, Niskayuna, NY 12309 on Saturday September 3rd at 3PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at Trinity Baptist Church prior to the service from 1 to 3 PM.
