Obituary of Douglas Evan Pritchard

ALBANY Douglas Evan Pritchard, 69, passed away January 13, 2017, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, under the care of The Community Hospice. Douglas was born in Liberty, N.Y., on March 10, 1947, to Evan A. Pritchard and Clara W. (Reissig) Pritchard. A creative mind, Douglas was a writer of poetry, plays and short stories, as well as a photographer who recorded images of his beloved Albany. He was a great lover of literature, art, music and the theater and was an avid fan of drag racing. Douglas was a graduate of Albany High, class of 1966, and studied theater at Junior College of Albany, class of 1975. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer P. and David “Brian” Munyan and their daughters Delaney and Katherine; his sister Ruth P. Trump (husband, William); brother David Pritchard (wife, Joaquina); brother Thomas Pritchard (wife, Alicia); step-mother Mary (Unser) Pritchard; niece Ann (Trump) Mauro (husband, Michael); nephew William Trump (wife, Theresa); nieces Cristina Lowe and Carla Dodson; several great-nephews and nieces; and close friend Jay Hallock. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Sherri Trump, and good friend William O’Brien. Services will be held at 11 a.m. February 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 35 Furman St., Schenectady, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202.
