Obituary of Gaulster W. Proper

Gaulster W. Proper, 83 of Central Avenue, Albany died on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Gaulster was born on April 8, 1927 in West Taghkanic, NY, son of the late John and Clanzy Houghtailing Proper. He was a plumber and worked in plumbing sales, he also owned and operated "Little Job Company", a janitorial service, for over 20 years. He loved softball and was a loyal fan and supporter of the NY Yankees. He also played with and managed a softball team for Albany Plumbing and Heating for several years. "Bill" was an active member of the PACC for which he served as a committeeman. He would help arrange functions such as the St.Jude's Foundation party's and other charitable events held at the club. A bird lover, "Bill" enjoyed feeding the birds that flocked around the club. He had many friends at the PACC, including his closest friends Herb Berry, Steve and Linda Kirtley and Hank Wagoner. Gaulster was the husband of the late Theresa Proper, father of the late Anthony Buffe, and brother of the late; Burton, Jacob, Margaret, Horton, Howard, Gladys May, Clanzy May and Mary Ella Schwartz. He is survived by his children; Tracie Phelan of Colonie, Herman Pemberton (Ann) of Roseville, Michigan and Helen Gaglardi (Robert) of North Carolina. He was grandfather of; Amy Murdico (James "JB") of Clifton Park, Sara Blackburn (Alex) of Clifton Park, Adam, Autumn, Chandler, Andrew and Myles Phelan all of Colonie; Matthew Carpinello (Andrea) of St. Louis, Missouri, Theresa Buffe of Schenectady, Anthony Buffe of Colonie, Nicholas Pemberton (Heather Gorman) of Ithaca, NY, Stephen Pemberton (Christine) of Hyde Park, NY and Noreen Pemberton of Buffalo, NY. He was great-grandfather of; James and Gabriella Murdico and Cayden Blackburn all of Clifton Park, Micah Pemberton of Tonawanda, NY, Roman and Reagan Pemberton of Hyde Park, NY and Alexander Carpinello of St.Louis, Missouri, all of whom will miss him dearly. A Memorial Service to which all are welcome will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at I PM at the PACC, 110 Commerce Avenue, Albany, NY. "Dad, you put up a galant fight. All of the pain you endured for us will forever be in our hearts. You were the best father and grandfather that anyone could ever be blessed with. We love you so much and will miss you more than anyone could imagine. Not a single day will pass without a thought of you. You are in the arms of the Lord." His nickname was "Papa Bull" because he was strong like a bull.
