Obituary of Mary Louise (Williams) Schmitz

Nassau, NY- Mary Louise (Williams) Schmitz was born on March 30th, 1948 in Warrenton, NC to the late Lawrence and Mattie-Mae Williams. She graduated from John Hawkins High School in 1967 and from there moved to Queens, NY with her long time partner Samuel Davis at the age of 20. It was in their new home that Mary and Samuel became proud parents a baby girl, Brenda, who they raised jointly. Mary eventually moved again to Albany, NY and started working at the Stratton V.A Medical Center in Albany as well as the Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie for about 17 years. She was united in marriage to Peter Schmitz on October 25th 1986 and together shared a happy 29 years of marriage together. Mary joined New Hope for Life Ministries in Nassau, NY and later became a youth minister in Lebanon, NY where she loved working with the kids. Mary went to be with the Lord on September 11th, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memory; husband Peter Schmitz, friend Samuel Davis, daughter Brenda Lee Davis, granddaughter Taylor Davis-McCloud, her twin sister Martha, and her two brothers Larry and Lawrence Williams. She is also survived by two brother-in-laws: Bobby Liddell and Kevin Schmitz, two sister-in-laws: Tammy Williams and Claudia Schmitz, her eight nephews, three nieces, her two dogs and two cats whom she loved tremendously as well as a hosts of relatives and friends. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Williams and sisters: Vanilla Williams, Leola Logan and Sadie Williams, Relatives and friends are invited to remember the life of Mary Louise Schmitz as we celebrate her home going reward this Saturday, September 19th, 1 o'clock in the afternoon at New Hope for Life Ministries, located at 1 Fairgrounds Street, Nassau, NY 12123. The family has entrusted Mary’s care to be co-arranged by the Riverview Funeral Home & Simple Choices Cremation Service of Troy, NY.
