Obituary of John R. Keenan, Jr.

Schenectady- John “Jack” Keenan, Jr., 64 of Schenectady, died on Sunday June 22, 2014 at Ellis Hospital. A son of the late John R. Keenan, Sr. and Margaret (Dorrance) Keenan, he was born in Niskayuna and was a lifelong resident of the Schenectady area. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army from 1972 until 1974 as a military police officer. Jack was a Deputy Sheriff with the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years. He also worked as a welder for Swett & Swett Welding in Schenectady for many years. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Gail A. Keenan, his children; Shane Keenan, Nicole Kopczynski, twins John and Eric Keenan and his beloved canine companion Lilly Mae. Jack is survived by his siblings; Bill Keenan, Pam Carter, Cheryl Stepaniuk, Kelly Tria, Heather Wright and Greg Keenan. Jack is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 4PM at the Rotterdam VFW #1895, 609 Draper Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12306.
